Salazar, Sergio (Museu Nacional, Rio de Janeiro) "The good dead: towards the moral construction of violence in the Risaralda Valley, Colombia"Taking into account that in contexts where violence is practiced continuously on individuals, there are speeches that legitimize its use in the regulation of social relations. In Colombia, the legitimacy of violence is observed both in public figures speeches and in the daily conversations of the population. The present project aims to address how, in a particular context like the municipality of Viterbo, in the Risaralda Valley (Caldas, Colombia), opposite valuations of violence and its instrumentalization are built. To answer this question, associated questions are raised such as: What do we understand as violence? what do locals understand as violence? What are the manifestations of violence in this community? How are these violences assessed? How are these assessments expressed in behaviors and discourses? Is there a different valuation of violence at different times? The research proposes academic dialogues with classical and recent studies on moral economics, moral sensibilities, poisonous knowledge, and the very conception of violence in anthropological literature.
