Orrego, Natalia (Pontificia U. Catolica de Chile) "II Latin American Conference on Digital Anthropology: Expanding Futures"The “II Latin American Conference on Digital Anthropology: Expanding Futures” is a project of the Latin American Network of Digital Anthropology with the support of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. The conference aspires to promote the discussions surrounding the complex relationship between anthropology and technology focusing on the region and its history, diversities, challenges, and characteristics. The main thematic areas addressed are materialities, platforms and infrastructures (digital as object); digital, digitalized and transformed contexts (digital as context); identities, subjectivities, and digital communities (digital as for/by subjects); scientific communication and organization through the digital (digital as a platform for anthropology) and ethical and methodological perspectives (digital as method). After a first conference that defined a landscape, this second version creates bridges with design and futures anthropologies to nourish the theoretical and practical debates in the field. The final goal is to create a space and a community for scholars, students and applied researchers who could thrive under these themes to, lastly, expand the possibilities of digital anthropology in Latin America.
