22nd Annual Meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA)’ August 31 – September 4. 2016, Vilnius, Lithuania Organizers: Albinas Kuncevicius (Vilnius U.) and Felipe Criado-Boado The 22nd Annual Meeting of the EAA brought together 1,476 archaeologists from 48 different countries within and outside of Europe. Altogether 1,293 papers were presented in 108 sessions, along with 165 posters. Sessions and round tables were divided into six themes: 1) ‘Interpreting the Archaeological Record;’ 2) ‘Managing Archaeological Heritage;’ 3) ‘Theoretical and Methodological Perspectives in Archaeology;’ 4) ‘Archaeology of the Baltic Region;’ 5) ‘Science and Interdisciplinary in Archaeology;’ and 6) ‘Archaeology Without Borders.’ Chronologically, the contributions ranged from early Palaeolithic to the modern era and included current matters relating to archaeology in Europe. The electronic and printed program contained abstracts of all the papers and posters and a directory of the participants. Approximately 100 archaeologists were able to attend the meeting thanks to the Wenner-Gren Foundation grant. Funds were primarily offered to assist travel and accommodation but also covered conference registration fees for a number of participants. This year’s academic sessions and roundtable discussions were complemented by a variety of social events and excursions to archaeological sites as well as multiple exhibitions. Other sponsors of the conference were Vilnius University, Public Institution, Academy of Cultural Heritage, and Society of Lithuanian Archaeology.
