Suhail, Adeem (Franklin and Marshall College) "Oceanic Nomadism: Autonomous, indigenous responses to climate disaster from the Makrani people of the Western Indian Ocean"

The proposed study is an exploratory foray into the emergent practice of ‘Oceanic Nomadism’ amongst the Baloch and Afro-Baloch (Makrani) peoples of the Western Indian Ocean. It interrogates Oceanic Nomadism as an autonomously organized, indigenous response to the ravages of Climate Change to consider the ethico-political dimensions of these practices, their sustainability and scalability in other domains of climate change-induced human migration.
