Transforming Anthropology is the flagship journal of the Association of Black Anthropologists. Launched in 1990, the journal was established as an effort to diversify anthropological publishing.

Over the years, Transforming Anthropology has pushed the boundaries of the discipline, publishing works that interrogate social inequalities based on race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, nationality, and other invidious distinctions. The commitment to rigorous, transformative research has established Transforming Anthropology as a vital voice in the field. Supported through a partnership with the Wenner-Gren Foundation, the Association of Black Anthropologists is expanding the breadth, reach, and impact of Transforming Anthropology, which is quickly becoming a global force of anthropological knowledge production.
