Silvana de Souza Nascimento

This workshop aims to propose revisions and new epistemic productions for the field of Brazilian and transnational anthropology, stemming from an exchange between the Association of Black Anthropologists (USA) and the Brazilian Anthropological Association (ABA). As a pre-event to the 35th Brazilian Anthropology Meeting (Reunião Brasileira de Antropologia), it offers an intensive forum for in-depth dialogues and the formation of academic and political collaboration networks among researchers and social movement leaders from Brazil and the U.S. The core focus is to construct innovative methodologies and epistemologies that prioritize ancestral and localized knowledges. The four thematic axes address: 1) Body and Territoriality (on hegemonic margins); 2) Affirmative Actions and Diversity (reparatory strategies); 3) Memories, Lineages, and Kinship (moving beyond classical canons); 4) Anthropological Practices (both inside and outside academia). The overall objective is to promote significant transformations in the field, valuing pluridiversity.
