Yuan, Fei (California, Irvine, U. of) "Plan for our own late-life care: an ethnographic study of retirees' financial and estate-planning in Beijing, China"

This project examines how retirees in Beijing use financial and legal information, knowledge, and tools to self-manage their own late-life care and post-mortem affairs. Using ethnographic research to study how elders navigate this novel information, interact with financial and legal institutions, and make estate plannings, this project will contribute to the anthropological study of kinship and property, financial markets, and anthropology of death and end-life-care.
